Historical Notes: Mid 19th c Round Bonnet

The round bonnet was popular from the 1840s to the late1850s. Both images (left) date to the late 1840s. Beginning in the early 1860s, the round bonnet slowly began to curve upward, creating a new bonnet shape entitled the "spoon" bonnet.

Maggie May's mid 19th c round bonnet is made on a wire frame that can also be reshaped into a spoon bonnet.
