The Fan-Front or Gathered front
Bodice was first seen as early as the 1830s but was most popular during
the 1850s and 1860s. During the American Civil War (in the 1860s), this
style
was still
being
worn primarily in the South. Older women in the North still wore this
style of bodice.
This style is extremely feminine and one of the more
comfortable
bodices
of the period.
