Artist Statement:

My passion for history has manifested itself in the art of recreating clothing from different periods of time. Since I was a young child, I was fascinated with dressing-up and the ability to put on a costume, a hat, or a piece of jewelry, and immediately become transported to another era. I suppose now that I am adult, this has not changed.

I am a devourer of visual and historic information. I spend hours studying period fashion plates, vintage photographs, museum collections, and period films. I find my inspiration from a swatch of material, a piece of trim, or even a vintage button.

Growing up in the American South, I am heavily schooled in the art of recreating clothing from the 19th century. However, after nearly a decade of immersing myself in primarily the Victorian period, I found the need to branch out and explore other periods of time- both to challenge my design skills and to feed my creative needs. However, my connection with the American South and the clothing of its people continues to be the driving force behind my designs.

Each piece of clothing on this site is my own design and making. I carefully research and construct each piece myself right here in my Southeastern Tennessee studio.
