Artist Statement:

My passion for history has manifested itself in the art of recreating clothing from different periods of time. Growing up in the American South, I am heavily schooled in the art of recreating clothing from the 19th century. After nearly a decade of immersing myself primarily in the Victorian period, I found the need to branch out and explore other periods of history. However, it is my connection with the American South and the clothing of its people that continues to be the driving force behind my designs.

I am a formally trained historian and a self taught seamstress. I am a devourer of visual and historic information. I study period fashion plates, vintage photographs, read historical clothing books, read period literature, visit museum collections, and occasionally watch a period film here and there. I find my inspiration from a swatch of material, a piece of trim, or even a vintage button.

Each piece of historical clothing I offer is my own design. I carefully research and construct each piece of historical attire myself right here in my Southeastern Tennessee studio.
